How to Set Up Teams on Your Phone

Getting Teams on Your Phone
The Teams mobile app keeps you connected when away from your desk.
Installing Teams
iPhone
- Open the App Store
- Search for "Microsoft Teams"
- Tap Get
- Wait for download and install
Android
- Open Google Play Store
- Search for "Microsoft Teams"
- Tap Install
- Wait for download
Signing In
Step 1: Open Teams
Tap the Teams icon on your home screen.
Step 2: Enter Your Email
- Tap Sign in
- Enter your work email address
- Tap Next
Step 3: Enter Password
- You may be redirected to your company login page
- Enter your password
- Complete any two-factor authentication
Step 4: Allow Permissions
Teams will ask to access:
- Notifications - Yes, to get message alerts
- Microphone - Yes, for calls
- Camera - Yes, for video calls
- Contacts - Optional
Setting Up Notifications
Configure Alerts
- Tap your profile picture (top left)
- Tap Notifications
- Adjust settings:
Recommended Settings
During work hours:
- Enable all notifications you need
- Set quiet hours (e.g., 6pm - 7am)
- Set quiet days for weekends
- Only urgent notifications get through
Using Teams Mobile
Activity Tab
See all your notifications and mentions.
Chat Tab
View and send direct messages.
Teams Tab
Access your teams and channels.
Calendar Tab
See your meetings and join with one tap.
Calls Tab
Make and receive Teams calls.
Joining Meetings
- Tap Calendar
- Find your meeting
- Tap Join
- Choose audio and video options
- Tap Join now
Tips for Mobile Teams
Save battery:
- Close Teams when not needed
- Disable background refresh if battery is low
- Use WiFi for video calls
- Reduce video quality in settings
- Use quiet hours
- Mute busy chats
