How to Record a Microsoft Teams Meeting

Recording Teams Meetings
Recording meetings is useful for:
- Sharing with absent colleagues
- Reviewing discussions later
- Creating training materials
- Keeping records of important decisions
Starting a Recording
Step 1: Join the Meeting
Join your Teams meeting as usual.
Step 2: Start Recording
- Click the three dots (...) in the meeting controls
- Click Start recording
Step 3: The Recording Begins
- A red dot appears in the meeting controls
- All participants see a recording indicator
- Audio, video, and screen sharing are captured
Stopping the Recording
Option 1: Stop Manually
- Click the three dots (...)
- Click Stop recording
Option 2: End the Meeting
When the meeting ends, the recording stops automatically.
Finding Your Recording
In Teams:
- Open Teams
- Go to the meeting chat
- The recording appears there when processing is complete
In OneDrive/SharePoint:
Recordings are saved to:
- OneDrive for instant meetings
- SharePoint for channel meetings
Sharing the Recording
From the Chat:
- Find the recording in the meeting chat
- Right-click and choose Share
- Enter the email addresses
- Click Send
From OneDrive:
- Open OneDrive
- Find the Recordings folder
- Right-click the file
- Click Share
- Set permissions and share
Recording Tips
Do:
- Inform participants before recording
- Stop recording during confidential sections
- Delete old recordings you no longer need
- Share recordings promptly with absent colleagues
- Record without good reason
- Share recordings with unauthorized people
- Keep recordings indefinitely
Privacy Considerations
- All participants are notified when recording starts
- Consent is implied by staying in the meeting
- Check your company policy on meeting recordings
- Be mindful of confidential discussions
