    Why Use Two Monitors?

    A second monitor lets you:

    • View documents side by side
    • Keep email open while working
    • Reference materials without switching windows
    • Increase productivity

    Connecting Your Monitor

    Step 1: Identify Your Cable

Look at the ports on your computer and monitor:

    • HDMI - Common, looks like a trapezoid
    • DisplayPort - Similar to HDMI with one angled corner
    • USB-C - Small oval connector
    • VGA - Older, has 15 pins

    Step 2: Connect the Cable

    • Plug one end into your computer
    • Plug the other end into the monitor
    • Turn on the monitor

Step 3: Windows Should Detect It

Windows usually detects the new monitor automatically. If not:

    • Right-click on the desktop
    • Click Display settings
    • Click Detect

    • Second screen only - Use only the external monitor

    Set Primary Display

    • Click on the monitor you want as primary
    • Check Make this my main display
    • Your taskbar and icons will be on this screen

    • Scroll to Display resolution
    • Choose the recommended resolution

    • Go to System Preferences > Displays
    • Click Arrangement tab
