Connecting Bluetooth Headphones
Wireless headphones are great for calls and focus work. Here's how to connect them.
Putting Headphones in Pairing Mode
First, make your headphones discoverable:
- Turn on your headphones
- Hold the power button (or Bluetooth button) for 3-5 seconds
- A light usually flashes to indicate pairing mode
- Check your headphones' manual for specific instructions
- Hold power button when turning on
- Hold a dedicated Bluetooth button
- Use an app to put them in pairing mode
Connecting on Windows
Step 1: Open Bluetooth Settings
- Click Start > Settings
- Click Bluetooth & devices
- Make sure Bluetooth is On
Step 2: Add Device
- Click Add device
- Click Bluetooth
- Wait for your headphones to appear
- Click on your headphones' name
- Wait for "Connected" confirmation
Step 3: Test Audio
- Play some audio
- Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar
- Ensure your headphones are selected
Connecting on Mac
Step 1: Open Bluetooth Settings
- Click the Apple menu
- Click System Preferences
- Click Bluetooth
Step 2: Connect
- Find your headphones in the list
- Click Connect
- Wait for pairing to complete
Using Headphones for Calls
Set as Default in Teams
- Open Microsoft Teams
- Click your profile picture
- Click Settings > Devices
- Select your headphones for Speaker and Microphone
Test Before Important Calls
- In Teams, go to Settings > Devices
- Click Make a test call
- Verify you can hear and be heard
Troubleshooting
Headphones not appearing?
- Make sure they're in pairing mode (light flashing)
- Turn Bluetooth off and on
- Move closer to the computer
- Remove from any other paired devices first
- Check volume on headphones
- Check computer volume
- Right-click speaker icon > Open Sound settings
- Select headphones as output device
- Move closer to the computer
- Reduce interference from other devices
- Check headphone battery level
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting
- Charge your headphones
- Stay within range
- Update Bluetooth drivers (ask IT)
Managing Bluetooth Devices
Forget/Remove a Device (Windows)
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices
- Find your headphones
- Click the three dots
- Click Remove device
Reconnecting Later
Once paired, your headphones should connect automatically when turned on near your computer.
