    Moving Files Between Devices

Need to get a file from your computer to your phone, or vice versa? Here are the best methods.

    Using OneDrive (Recommended)

The easiest way - files are automatically available everywhere.

    How It Works

    • Save file to OneDrive on one device
    • File syncs to the cloud
    • Access it from any other device with OneDrive

    From Computer to Phone

    • Save file to OneDrive folder on computer
    • Open OneDrive app on phone
    • File is there

    From Phone to Computer

    • Open OneDrive app on phone
    • Upload the file (or enable camera upload)
    • File appears in OneDrive on your computer

    Email to Yourself

    Quick and Simple

    • Create new email
    • Attach the file
    • Send to yourself
    • Open email on other device
    • Download attachment

    Limitations

    • File size limits (usually 25MB)
    • Not ideal for large files
    • Clogs your inbox if used often

    Using Cloud Links

    Share a Link

    • Upload file to OneDrive
    • Create a sharing link
    • Send link to yourself via email or text
    • Open link on other device
    • Download
Good for larger files that won't email.

    Phone to Computer: USB Cable

    iPhone

    • Connect iPhone to computer with cable
    • If prompted, trust the computer on your phone
    • Open File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac)
    • Find your iPhone
    • Browse and copy photos/files

    Android

    • Connect phone to computer with USB cable
    • On phone, select File Transfer mode
    • Open File Explorer
    • Browse phone storage
    • Copy files to computer

    AirDrop (Apple Devices Only)

If you have Mac and iPhone:

    • Enable AirDrop on both devices
    • Select file(s) to share
    • Tap Share > AirDrop
    • Select the other device
    • Accept on receiving device
Fast and wireless for Apple users.

    Nearby Share (Windows & Android)

    Windows to Windows or Android

    • Enable Nearby Share on both devices
    • Right-click file > Share
    • Select nearby device
    • Accept on receiving device

    Tips

    For Regular Transfers

    • Use OneDrive - automatic and reliable
    • Enable camera upload for photos

    For Quick One-Time Transfers

    • Email for small files
    • Share link for large files
    • USB cable for many files

    For Large Files

    • Don't use email
    • Use cloud sharing link
    • USB cable for very large files
