How to Report Suspicious Emails
When to Report an Email
Report any email that seems:
- Like a phishing attempt
- Too good to be true
- Threatening or urgent
- Requesting passwords or sensitive data
- From an unknown sender with attachments
- Pretending to be from a company but looks wrong
How to Report Suspicious Emails
Step 1: Don't Interact
- Do not click any links
- Do not download attachments
- Do not reply to the sender
Step 2: Forward to IT
Forward the suspicious email to:
helpdesk@netlumait.com.au
Include a brief note like: "This email looks suspicious, please check."
Step 3: Delete the Email
After forwarding, delete the email from your inbox.
Reporting Phishing in Outlook
Using the Report Button
Some Outlook setups have a Report button:
- Select the suspicious email
- Look for Report or Report Phishing in the toolbar
- Click it to report and remove the email
If No Report Button
Forward the email to IT as described above.
What Happens After You Report?
IT will:
- Analyse the email
- Block the sender if malicious
- Warn other staff if needed
- Thank you for reporting!
Common Suspicious Emails
Fake invoices: "Your invoice is attached" from unknown senders
Account warnings: "Your account will be suspended!"
Prize notifications: "You've won! Click here to claim!"
Fake password resets: "Your password has been reset" (when you didn't request it)
CEO/manager impersonation: "I need you to buy gift cards urgently" (supposedly from your boss)

Every report helps protect the whole company. Scammers often target multiple people, so your report might stop an attack before it affects others.
