    Why Safely Eject?

Pulling out a USB drive without ejecting can:

    • Corrupt your files
    • Damage the USB drive
    • Lose data that was being written
    • Cause "drive not recognised" errors
    Always eject before removing.

    • Click the USB icon (Safely Remove Hardware)
    • Click Eject [Your Drive Name]
    • Wait for "Safe to Remove Hardware" message
    • Now unplug the USB

    Method 2: File Explorer

    • Find your USB drive under "This PC"
    • Right-click the drive
    • Click Eject
    • Wait for confirmation
    • Remove the USB

    Method 3: Quick Access

    • Or drag it to the Trash (which becomes an Eject icon)

    Method 3: Keyboard

    • Select the USB drive
    • Press Command + E

    Troubleshooting

    "Device Is Currently in Use"

This means a file on the USB is still open:

    • Close all files from the USB
    • Close programs that might be using USB files
    • Try ejecting again

    Can't Find Eject Option

    • Close all windows showing USB contents
    • Wait a moment
    • Try again
    • If still stuck, save your work and restart computer

    After Improper Removal

If you accidentally pulled out a USB without ejecting:

    • Plug it back in
    • Check if files are accessible
    • If there are errors, let Windows scan and fix
    • Back up important files immediately

    Best Practices

    Always:

    • Eject before removing
    • Wait for confirmation message
    • Close files before ejecting
    Never:
    • Yank out a USB while it's flashing
    • Remove during file transfers
    • Ignore the eject process
